Collection: Multi-colored aquamarine

Aquamarine, also known as berylite or chrysolite, derives its name from the Latin "Aqua marina," meaning "sea water." This gemstone, once called beryl or zeberdjed in Egypt, is a transparent light blue variety of beryl. Its current name, "aquamarine," was adopted in the 16th century. First discovered in Brazil, where the largest deposits are still found, aquamarine is also mined in the Himalayas, Africa, Russia, Madagascar, and the mines of Pakistan.

Thanks to its hardness, aquamarine was particularly suitable for intaglio engraving, a technique practiced in antiquity in Egypt, Greece, and Italy. Many works of art depicting heroes, Olympian gods, or historical figures were created from this gemstone.
