Collection: Amazonite

Amazonite is a variety of microcline feldspar, a family of minerals that also includes orthoclase. This gemstone is distinguished by its magnificent green to blue-green color, often streaked with white or yellowish veins, creating unique marbled patterns. The characteristic color of amazonite is due to the presence of small amounts of lead and water in its structure.

Amazonite takes its name from the Amazon River, although this stone was not discovered in that region. The name is believed to have been given by Europeans in reference to the legendary Amazonian warriors of Greek mythology, who, according to some traditions, used this stone to decorate their shields or clothing.
